Melinda Katz initiated her campaign for Queens Borough President at Portofino Ristorante in Forest Hills. More than forty elected officials, community leaders and residents attended the October 10 announcement including Congressmember Joe Crowley, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, Assemblymembers Jeffrion Aubry, Vivian Cook, Michael DenDekker, Councilmembers Karen Koslowitz, Domenic Recchia and District Leaders Morton Povman and Anthony Andrews.
??It?s an honor to have so many of you here today to kick off my campaign for Queens Borough President,? said Katz. ?We talk a lot about how Queens is the most diverse borough in the city ? and that?s for a reason. It is a promise of improved quality of life and a security in knowing that our children can walk safely on the streets from school and back that brings people to Queens from around the world. I understand that representing this community and upholding this standard is a big responsibility. With your support, I know we can continue to make Queens the best place to live in New York City.?
Katz is an attorney with Greenburg Traurig and has served in the Assembly and City Council.
